Introduction:-Getting a government job is a dream of many students. To make this into a reality one needs to work hard and prepare for competitive examinations conducted by State Public Service Commissions and Union Public Service commission.

        In Andhra Pradesh the APPSC conducts various competitive examinations to recruit various positions in State Government departments in various posts like Technical services, Non Technical services, Executive, Non Executive categories and Junior Stenos,Typists and Junior Assistants in Judicial Ministerial Services and Junior Stenos,Typists in the Offices of the Heads of the Departments

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission: It is widely known as APPSC . The major function of APPSC is to recruit directly under article 320(1) of the Constitution of India.

Those recruited are mostly under these categories.

Types of Jobs:-

APPSC Group I, II, III and IV  etc.

Group I posts like,

Asst. Engineer,

Asst. Motor Vehicle Inspector,

Asst. Director of Legal Metrology etc are covered in Technical services.

Under Non Technical services 

Deputy Collector, 

DSP of Police, 

Commercial Tax Officer, 

District Registrar,

Asst.Commissioner of Labour,

Group II posts like

In Executive category

Assistant Commercial Tax Officer,

Village Development Officer.

Group IV posts like 

Junior Stenos,

Typists and Junior Assistants in Judicial Ministerial Services

Group I and II any graduate bellow 34 years can apply for these posts except for technical posts which needs special qualifications.

Method of examination: There are two stages of selection procedure. One is written examination, and another one is oral test.

The written examination is conducted in two stages.

1.Preliminary,

2.Mains.

Preliminary: Preliminary examination or screening test comprising of general studies and mental ability contains 150 objective type questions. The candidates who qualified in this test shall be allowed for Main examination.

Mains: Optional subjects has to be selected by the candidates for Main examination

Oral or Interview Test: Candidates who scored minimum qualifying marks are called for interview in 1:2 ratio.

Selection procedure: The final selection will be made on the total marks obtained by the candidate in written and oral test.

In Group IV written examination comprises of two papers.

Paper I : General studies 150 questions and 150 marks for SSC level.

Paper II: Secretarial Abilities 150 questions of 150 marks for Intermediate level.
